Well Drilling Continues Despite Downturn

Despite the low energy prices, the loss of more oil and gas rigs in the state and the nation and putting more employees into the unemployment lines, some energy companies continue to explore for new oil and gas finds in northern Oklahoma.

The latest completion reports, as shown on OK Energy Today, Completion reports indicate some success by Chesapeake Operating LLC in Alfalfa and Woods Counties. Chesapeake brought in two wells in Alfalfa County, one producing 418 barrels of oil a day and the other 152 barrels daily. Both were in the same vicinity just north of the small community of Carmen, located southwest of the city of Cherokee. They were completed in February. The Woods County wells were northeast of Freedom. Records showed no production as of yet on the wells drilled northeast of Freedom.

Chesapeake also brought in a 443-barrel a day oilwell northwest of Dover in Kingfisher county with completion in February.

Midstates Petroleum reported a well producing 268 barrels a day just north of Avard in Woods county. It was completed in February.

American Energy-Woodford LLC reported three new wells in Lincoln County and one in Payne County. The Lincoln County wells were southeast of Tryon and south of Agra. The largest of the three produced 418 barrels of oil daily. The fourth well, located in Payne county was just north of Coyle but records showed no production as of yet.
