Oklahoma gasoline prices are seven cents lower this week, averaging $2.09 a gallon at the beginning of the summer driving season, according to the latest fuel report issued on Monday by AAA Oklahoma.

The $1.95 a gallon average in Muskogee is lowest in the state while Stillwater has the highest average at $2.20 a gallon.

“The Oklahoma City average is more than a penny below the state average today,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “But the real surprise is Tulsa, where the citywide pump price average dipped below $2 yesterday for the first time since May 19 of this year.”

Other gasoline prices around the state include a $2.14 average in Altus, $2.11 in Ardmore and $2.10 in Ponca City. Tulsa’s average is $1.97 and the average in Oklahoma City is $2.08. Stillwater showed the only gain for the week while Bartlesville had the largest drop since last week, arriving at $1.97 from $2.12 a gallon.

The national average price of gasoline reached $2.33 a gallon, a drop of 46 cents when compared to a year ago.

The nation’s lowest gasoline prices are in South Carolina ($2.03), Mississippi ($2.07), Oklahoma ($2.09), Arkansas ($2.09) and New Jersey ($2.11). Regionally, Missouri’s average of $2.12 a gallon reflects a drop of seven cents since last week. California and Hawaii have the two most expensive prices at $2.86 and $2.75, respectively.
