Oklahoma’s STACK is yielding more big wells, according to completion reports published by OK Energy Today. The two largest have been brought in by Houston-based Marathon Oil and were drilled in Blaine County.

The largest produced 1,466 barrels of oil a day along with 2,474 mcf of gas out of the Mississippian formation. It’s the IRVEN JOHN well located six miles northwest of the Chisholm Trial Technology Center and north of state highway 3. It’s also four miles southeast of the town of Hitchcock and had a spud date of Feb. 23. Drilling was finished March 31 and completion was made May 29.

The OLIVE JUNE, drilled at the same section produced 1,363 barrels daily along with 1,755 mcf of gas. The well was in the Meramec formation and had a Jan. 23 spud date with drilling finished Feb. 21 and completion on May 28.

Houston’s Newfield Exploration had success in Blaine county with a 529 barrel-a-day well just two miles southeast of Hitchcock, not far from the Marathon wells. The JIM well was drilled in the Mississippian Ex-Chester formation with a spud date of Jan. 6, drilling finished on Feb. 5 and completion Feb. 25. It’s just one of the numerous wells that made the STACK a favorite of Newfield.

After sitting on a well drilled late last year in Major County, Comanche Resources Co. of Oklahoma City reported completion in June. The WARD well, drilled 8 miles northeast of Seiling produced 468 barrels of oil daily and 769 mcf of gas. It’s in the Meramec formation and had an Oct. 16 spud date last year with drilling finished Nov. 12, 2015 and completion made June 18, 2016.
