Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners will get a presentation this week concerning the Southwest Power Pool, the Integrated Marketplace and their impact on electric customers in the state.

The presentations will be made Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Jim Thorpe building at the state capital complex.

The Integrated Marketplace has meant huge changes in the cost, planning and management of electricity in Oklahoma and the other 13 states that make up the Southwest Power Pool, according to the announcement by the Corporation Commission.  Presentations on the IM’s effect on the marketplace and Oklahoma customers will be made by the SPP, Oklahoma Gas and Electric and AEP-PSO.

The SPP is a Regional Transmission Organization overseeing the bulk electric grid and wholesale power market for the 14-state region that includes Oklahoma. The IM is a program launched by SPP in March 2014 and developed in part to coordinate electricity generation across the region.
