Mark Ruffalo is Latest Hollywood Actor to Join Protesters in North Dakota

The Dakota Access Pipeline protest in North Dakota apparently has become the “protest de jour” for Hollywood.

Now actor Mark Ruffalo who considers himself an activist has joined the Native Americans and members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s protest of the nearly $4 billion pipeline under construction.

Ruffalo is described as a co-funder of The Solutions Project which promotes clean and renewable energy. he delivered a pair of Navajo-made solar trailers to power the encampments established in protest of the pipeline.

“Water is life,” said Ruffalo in joining the protesters who contend the $3.8 billion dollar four-state pipeline will threaten water supplies for millions. Actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio is also on his way to join the protests.

For those who aren’t sure they recall Ruffalo on the big screen, he starred with DiCaprio in the 2010 psychological thriller Shuttler Island and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting actor in the comedy-drama The Kids Are all Right. He also co-starred in the mystery films Now You See Me and Now Y9ou See Me 2. Ruffalo also portrayed the Marvel Comics character the Hulk in The Avengers in 2012.
