When it comes to political news in Washington, D.C. the website Politico is considered to be pretty much the Bible. And it’s reporting that Gov. Mary Fallin is the “leading candidate for Interior secretary” in the Donald Trump administration.

The website quotes “three people close to Trump’s transition team.” It was last week when the Governor met with Trump in New York. Politico notes that she once was in contention to be Trump’s vice president. It described her as a “staunch critic of the Obama administration’s climate change regulations for power plants.”

Politico also said Fallin has faced criticism from environmental groups for her stance on climate change.

Late Tuesday, the Trump-Pence team announced Gov. Fallin was named one of seven vice chairs of the executive committee which will help make the move into the White House and presidency. She is joined by Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis, Kathleen Troia “KT” McFarland, Rep. Tom Reed, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott.

Five others were named to the executive committee including Congressmen Sean Duffy, Trey Gowdy and Dennis Ross, Pastor Darrell Scott and Kiron Skinner.
