Scott Pruitt’s confirmation by the U.S. Senate as the new Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency brought diametrically opposed reactions from Oklahoma’s Democratic and Republican political parties.

No surprise how the GOP reacted.

“The OKGOP is incredibly proud to announce that Scott Pruitt has been confirmed,” started the announcement. The party said he had served as Oklahoma’s Attorney General with “distinction and an unwavering education to always do what was best for Oklahoma, oftentimes in the face of incredible opposition. The Republican party said it expects Pruitt to fight to repeal many of the “overbearing regulations” that were enacted during the previous Administration.

On the opposite end of the spectrum….the Oklahoma Democratic party.

“Scott Pruitt’s confirmation is another glaring example of the White House’s interest in dismantling efforts to protect our environment and our children’s future, all for big oil and gas profits.”

The Democratic party called Pruitt a “climate-change-denier” and said he spent most of his time as attorney general “fighting the EPA with frivolous lawsuits against clean air and water concerns with the support of big oil and gas.”

It said by joining Trump’s administration, the door is wide open for Pruitt and his energy entourage to being breaking apart EPA regulations to meet big oil interests. The party statement predicted a disastrous future of the EPA.
