Oklahoma’s Rig Count Remains at 101 while National Count is up

While Oklahoma’s rig count in the past week remained steady at 101, the national count increased by three, according to figures released by Baker Hughes Company of Houston.

The national count is up to 754 and includes an increase of 5 more oil rigs to bring the oil rig county to 602 and the gas rig count to 151.

This week’s count is 252 higher than the 502 oil and gas rigs reported one year ago.  In the past week, Canada’s count grew by ten to reach 341.

The Permian Basin remains the hottest oil play where three more rigs were added bringing the count to 306. The Eagle Ford added three to hit 64. The Granite Wash in Oklahoma slipped by one to reach a dozen rigs. The Mississippian remained at three while the Woodfords stayed at 7.

The rig count in Texas grew by 8 to hit 386. The count in  North Dakota fell by one to reach 34. In New Mexico, the count remained at 48. Louisiana lost two rigs and dropped to 49. Kansas saw an increase of one to hit 36 active rigs. Colorado remained at 26.
