Gasoline Prices Reflect Increase in Past Month in Oklahoma

Another jump in gasoline prices drove Oklahoma’s latest average price up to $2.20 a gallon, according to the latest report from AAA Oklahoma.

“Between the first of April and April 14, the state average price for a gallon of regular rose 11 cents, coming in at $2.20 per gallon on April 14, the high for the year,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “And even though prices have fallen just a bit lately, we still expect retail gas to trend upward as we approach the start of summer. How much they rise depends largely on market forces occurring on the other side of the globe.”

Oklahoma City’s average is up to $2.18, an increase of seven cents from a month ago. Tulsa’s average stands at $2.14, up five cents in the past month. The U.S. average is at $2.41, an increase of 12 cents a gallon over the past four weeks.

The national average is at its highest price this year and reflects an increase over the past 20 consecutive days. While Oklahoma prices dropped a few cents in the past few days, prices in 43 states and Washington D.C. moved higher. AAA Oklahoma says it’s most prevalent in the East Coast region where refiners wrapped up seasonable turnaround resulting in significant price increases last week.
