Energy Secretary Predicts Solar Power Will Grow in Oklahoma

What’s the next energy potential for Oklahoma?  Solar. At least that’s the opinion of Michael Teague, Oklahoma’s Secretary of Energy and Environment.

It’s what he told the Northwest Oklahoma Alliance networking luncheon this week in Woodward according to the Woodward News.

“I think solar is the next potential for Oklahoma,” said Teague. “Look at how we sell electricity. We can’t sell electricity to California. We don’t have wires that go that far and we should.”

Teague believes Oklahoma could produce much more revenue if it were able to share wind and solar energy.

“Energy is doing very well and I think we are starting to move again. For the first time, three quarters of the electric power in Oklahoma is generated with Oklahoma’s resources.”

He explained 28 percent of Oklahoma’s energy is coming from wind or hydro.
