Oklahoma Geological Survey Adding More Earthquake Stations

The Oklahoma Geological Survey wants to add 72 more seismometers in its study of earthquakes in the state. It’s a $3.5 million project to add the permanent seismic stations, according to a report this week by the Tulsa World.

As OGS officials explain, the 72 stations would be phased in over a three year period. State seismologist Jake Walter says it would allow the state to study earthquakes as small as 2.0 magnitude.
