A change of heart by operators of the largest coal-fired power plant in the western U.S.
Co-owners of the Colstrip Generating Station in southeastern Montana now say they will continue running the 2,100-megawatt plant for the foreseeable future.
Last year, officials at Talen Energy based in Pennsylvania indicated that a new operator would be needed by mid-2018, claiming the plant was no longer economically viable.
No reason’s been given for the reversal.
