WTI Hovers Close to $50 a Barrel at Friday’s Finish as Brent Settles Over $55

Domestic oil prices finished slightly under the $50 a barrel benchmark for Friday’s session but saw the largest weekly gain since late July, according to Bloomberg MarketWatch.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, October West Texas Intermediate crude remained at $49.89 a barrel after forging ahead of $50 a barrel earlier in the day. For the week, WTI crude saw an increase of 5.1%.

November Brent crude, the global benchmark, rose 15 cents, or 0.3%, to settle at $55.62 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe Exchange. Brent crude ended about 3.4% higher for the week.

Oil climbed for the week as U.S. refineries resumed operations following Hurricane Harvey, which knocked out several Texas Gulf Coast facilities.

October natural gas fell by 4.6 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $3.024 per million British thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange. For the week, natural gas futures rose by 4.6%.
