Democrats Want Inspector General to Probe Scott Pruitt’s Spending

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s spending and travel costs have the attention of two senior House Transportation Democrats who want the Agency’s inspector general to carry out a probe.

It’s what Representatives Peter DeFazio and Grace Napolitano asked in a letter this week to the inspector general.

“This culture, which is reflected in travel and lifestyle choices from the president on down, seems to embolden senior, politically appointed officials of the Trump administration to undertake lavish spending of taxpayer dollars for their sole and personal benefit, and not for the benefit of the Americans paying the tab,” wrote the two Representatives.

They want an accounting of Pruitt’s round-the-block security and his most recent plan to spend $25,000 on a soundproof phone booth to make secure calls in his office.
