EPA Inspector General Asked to Investigate Pruitt’s Sensitive Communications Booth Construction

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Inspector General has been formally requested to investigate EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s “waste, fraud and abuse” in the construction of a secure, soundproof communications booth in Pruitt’s office.

OK Energy Today reported on September 28 about Pruitt’s plans to install the $25,000 privacy cube. But three Democratic senior members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have called for an investigation into the approval of the secured communications area.

In a letter dated October 5, 2017, U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-New Jersey), Paul Tonko (D-New York) and Diana DeGette (D-Colorado) are seeking an internal investigation into the construction because “EPA headquarters reportedly already has a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) on another floor of the building.”

Americans “have a right to know if Administrator Pruitt is wasting taxpayer money on duplicative and unnecessary purchases for his office,” they wrote in the letter.
