Legislators Criticized by Enid Economic Development Director for Targeting Wind Industry

An Enid economic development director says the contributions of the wind industry have been forgotten as legislators and special interests prioritize their own interests in dealing with a budget hole in the state government.

Writing in the Sunday Oklahoman, Brent Kisling, executive director of the Enid Regional Development Alliance charged that anti-wind forces want to hurt the industry even further.

“Specifically, they’d like to single wind out so the industry doesn’t qualify for the state’s manufacturing sales tax exemption, an exemption that benefits every other manufacturing industry,” said Kisling.

He wrote, “Unfortunately, some members of the anti-renewable lobby have teamed up with some of four state legislators to attack this vibrant industry that contributes immeasurably to Oklahoma’s economic outlook.”
