Gas Prices Jump in Oklahoma and Across the U.S.

Gasoline prices in Oklahoma have hit an average of $2.35 a gallon, 19 cents less than the national average.

AAA Oklahoma says the national average rose 9 cents over the past week while Oklahoma prices went up a nickle a gallon.

“Compared to the first half of November last year, gas prices this November are on average 39-cents more expensive,” explained Leslie Gamble, AAA Oklahoma spokeswoman. “However, while November gas prices have come in like a lion, AAA expects them to go out like a lamb.”

Still, Oklahoma is among the top ten states with the cheapest gas in the country. The state ranks 9th lowest with Alabama’s $2.26 a gallon the lowest average in the country.

Over the past week, gas prices rose in most states with some seeing double-digit increases. Florida and Indiana averages rose 13 cents a gallon while Alaska’s prices went up 12 cents and Ohio a dime.

But demand is slowing according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency which said the gasoline inventory in the region sits at 78 million bbl, down slightly by 800,000 bbl on the week.
