Monday’s trading saw crude oil prices slipping less than 50 cents a barrel as China’s demand for crude in September was weak and puny U.S. business activity limited the fall in prices.
Oklahoma energy stocks were also hazy as some stocks saw a 7% gain while others dropped 4-5%.
West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery dropped 47 cents a barrel or half a percentage point to settle at $84.58 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for December delivery settled down 24 cents at $93.26 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
November natural gas rose 24 cents or nearly 5% to $5.20 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Monday saw a mixed day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks. Mammoth Energy gained nearly 7% and PHX Minerals rose about 5% while NGL Energy lost 4% and LSB Industries dropped 5%.
