Drilling activity unchanged in Oklahoma

Oklahoma went another week with very little change in its oil and gas rig activity.

The recent Baker Hughes Rig Count showed the state with 44 rigs and reportedly one less than in the previous week. However, the Baker Hughes report showed no decline in the state’s oil and gas plays.

The Cana Woodford had 21 active rigs. It was unchanged from last week’s count. The Granite Wash had the second highest rig total at 17, same as last week.

No changes were reported in the Ardmore Woodford and the Arkoma Woodford. The Arkoma count remained at one rig while the Ardmore went another week with 2 rigs.

The Mississippian had no reported drilling activity for another week, according to the Baker Hughes report.

Elsewhere

Drilling activity jumped in the busiest oil and gas producing play in the U.S.—the Permian Basin. The number of rigs rose by 5 to reach 255. The Permian includes rigs in west Texas and southeast New Mexico.

The Eagle Ford in south Texas remained at 44 rigs while the Haynesville in east Texas and Louisiana was unchanged with a total of 55 rigs.

The Williston in North Dakota and Montana continued with 28 rigs. The Marcellus was unchanged at 44 and the Utica remained at 12 rigs.

The D-J Niobrara had 8 rigs, same as last week. No drilling activity was reported in the Barnett play of north Texas.
