Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners are scheduled to meet Wednesday morning with one major issue to be resolved, a request by Okahoma Gas and Electric Company regarding its contracts with Google to supply electricity.
When OGE filed the application for pre-approval in May 2026, it stated it had executed three Electric Service Agreements with Alliance Site & Grid, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Google to provie retail electric service in Oklahoma.
“The facilities represent significant new investments in the State of Oklahoma and a significant new load on OG&E’s system,” stated the application. “Serving this load requires bespoke contractual provisions to ensure reliable service while protecting existing customers from adverse rate impacts.”
The utility further declared the agreements included extensive customer protection provisions to ensure that existing OG&E customers “are not exposed to stranded costs, cost shifting, or undue financial risk.”
The agreements are also long-term contract commitments with Google and include funding by Google of all the dedicated transmission and distribution infrastructure. In addition, OG&E explained its most recent Integrated Resource Plans demonstrate a growing need for more generation capacity to meet forecasted load growth and reserve requirements of the Southwest Power Pool.
Two of the projects are what OG&E called “long-term Capacity Purchase Agreements” with Google under which the utillity will purchase capacity from two solar generation operations within OG&E’s service territory.
One OG&E official testified the agreements include a “cost shifting” which will create residential customer benefits of $1.83 per month by 2027 and up to $6.84 a month by 2036. The company representative further said the cost shifting that occurs with Google as a customer “can mitigate future rate increases.”
