Regulators to meet and deal with rate changes from utilities

Corporation Commissioners will meet Thursday to consider the status of two utility rate cases, including Public Service Company of Oklahoma which filed a rate request totaling $597 million last fall.

The other pertains to a rate request made by The Empire District Electric Company based in Missouri but with customers in northeast Oklahoma.

The PSO case revealed details in January where the utility said its request could raise rates by 15% for residential ratepayers.

The request was made on the heels of a request PSO for Construction Work in Progress rate hikes for $1.2 billion in expansion of energy projects.  PSO stated in its release it asked authority for a rate review to “continue delivering safe, reliable, and resilient electric service for its 580,000 customers.”
