Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company (OG&E) recently partnered with nonprofit organizations to donate 1,800 electric fans to seniors and families across its service area to help residents stay safe and cool during the hot summer months. This marks the 20th year of the company providing fans to neighbors.
Throughout May and June, OG&E distributed fans to residents across Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas who are at increased risk for heat-related illness and injury. To help fans reach those who need them the most, OG&E partnered with local organizations, that serve vulnerable populations, including the Salvation Army, Latino Community Development Agency, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Heavener; Caring Community Friends of Sapulpa; Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma and Canadian Counties, Inc; Under One Roof in Eufaula, Okla; and the Sebastian County Senior Center in Fort Smith, Ark.
“OG&E’s generous fan donation helps protect our neighbors who are particularly susceptible to the summer heat,” said Christy Baker, chief executive officer of RSVP Enid, a comprehensive professional resource center for aging services in North Central and Northwest Oklahoma. “The continued partnership and support from OG&E empower us to provide essential relief to seniors during the hottest months of the year.”
Fans offer a simple, effective way to stay cool by improving air circulation, helping to reduce the risk of health-related illnesses while also conserving energy and lowering electricity costs.

“Programs like our fan donation initiative reflect our dedication to strengthening the communities we serve,” said Kelli Hayward Walsh, OG&E manager of community outreach & engagement. “We know that not everyone has access to central air conditioning, and for many seniors and families, a fan can provide important relief during the hottest months. Ensuring the wellbeing of our customers is one of our top priorities, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the places where our employees live and work.”
Since 2006, the electric company has provided more than 24,400 fans to Oklahoma and Arkansas residents through community partnerships.
Another way OG&E helps customers stay safe during the summer is by partnering with local libraries, senior centers, churches and other locations to open Cool Zones across its service area. Cool Zones provide residents with a place to escape the heat during the hottest times of the day. A list of the 2026 Cool Zones can be found at oge.com/coolzones.
In addition to the fan distribution program, OG&E offers resources to help customers manage their energy usage. For more information, visit oge.com/efficiency.
