Heading into the Labor Day weekend, it appears gasoline prices across the U.S. will possibly increase over the growing exchanges of strikes between the U.S. and Iran in the Middle East.
Experts predict rising prices as a result of the resumption of attacks, despite a decline in the past week in Oklahoma and other states. AAA stated the U.S. average stood at $4.12 a gallon late this week, up 2 cents in the past week and only 3 cents more than a month earlier.
Oklahoma’s average is $3.69, down 13 cents from last week and a penny lower than a month ago.
Gasoline prices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City average $3.61 a gallon. Oklahoma City’s average is 17 cents lower than last week, and Tulsa is down 20 cents.
That’s not to say there isn’t $4 gasoline in the state. Motorists can find it in five counties: $4.33 a gallon around Shattuck in Ellis County; $4.12 in Taloga, the Dewey County seat; $4.06 a gallon in Coalgate in Coal County; and $4.04 a gallon each in Cheyenne, county seat in Rogers County and Hobart, county seat of Kiowa County.
Diesel prices are another matter. The state average is up to $5.16 a gallon or 7 cents higher than last week.
