Williams Cos. plans to make improvements to its downtown headquarters in Tulsa and do so by working with the city involve large acquisitions.
According to a recent report by KOTV News, Mayor Monroe Nicols confirmed the city had signed an agreement with the large energy company to pursue the sale of several City properties. The sites included two parking garages and the Williams Center Green.
The Center Green, also known as Williams Green, is a 2.5-acre urban park at 61 E 3rd street in Tulsa’s downtown district. It is located in the heart of the Central Business District and also serves as an outdoor centerpiece of the One Williams Center complex.
The Mayor also revealed Williams intends to maintain and provide security for the Boston Avenue Bridge and the Center of the Universe. Williams so far has released no public comment about what the mayor told KOTV News.
As reported, Mayor Nichols said the understanding would have private dollars improving some public property, and ensure that Williams was able to protect continued investment in the headquarters at the heart of downtown.
“We’ve been in conversations with them about what are the best ways for them to continue to attract employees,. A big part of that was making sure their corporate footprint here got an upgrade, that they were willing to invest in, but they needed some support in us making sure that they had the ability to do that.”
One other Williams purchase might occur and it would involve the Union Depot building, now owned by Tulsa County.
